Little League. Big Memories.
MYGS City League
City League
The MYGS City League is a community-based recreational softball program serving girls in 4K through 5th grade right here in Mosinee. Our league provides a fun, supportive, and team-oriented environment where players build fundamental softball skills, confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of the game. Games and practices are held locally, allowing families to stay connected while athletes learn and grow together throughout the spring and summer season.

Rookie Division - 4k & Kindergarten
The Rookies Division is designed to introduce our youngest players to the game of softball in a positive, fun, and encouraging environment. The primary goals are to teach basic skills, promote teamwork, build confidence, and foster a love for the game.
- Instructional Focus – No Scorekeeping
Games are 60 minutes long and are strictly instructional. There are no wins or losses recorded — the focus is on learning, confidence, and fun, not competition.
- Safety First – Facemasks Required
All defensive players must wear a facemask. Any player without a facemask may not play defense — no exceptions.
- Every Player Participates
No player may sit out more than one inning in a row. All players bat in a round-robin order, and everyone plays defense. Equal participation is guaranteed.
- Learning-Based Batting Format
Each batter receives three coach pitches. If the ball is not put in play, the batter hits from a tee — and all batters will successfully put a ball in play to encourage confidence and learning. No strikeouts.
- Run & Steal Limits for Development
Teams may score a maximum of five runs per inning, and stealing is not allowed to keep games moving fairly and developmentally appropriate.
MINOR DIVISION - 1st & 2nd Grades
The MYGS Minors Division is designed for players in 1st and 2nd grade and focuses on building confidence, coordination, and fundamental softball skills in a fun, structured environment. Players bat using a pitching machine with tee assistance when needed, allowing every athlete to successfully put the ball in play and stay actively involved. With an emphasis on equal participation, safety, and sportsmanship, the Minors Division helps young players continue developing their skills while preparing them for the next level of play.
- Structured Game Play with Development Focus
Games are 60 minutes long, and teams may score a maximum of five (5) runs per inning. This keeps games moving while maintaining a learning-first environment.
- Facemasks Are Required for Safety
All defensive players must wear a facemask. Players without facemasks may not play defense — no exceptions.
- Equal Participation for Every Player
No player may sit out more than one inning in a row. All players bat in a round-robin order, and every player participates in the field.
- Pitching Machine + Tee for Confidence
All batters hit from a pitching machine. Each batter receives three hittable pitches, and if needed, a final swing off a tee — no strikeouts. Every batter will successfully put a ball in play to encourage learning and confidence.
- No Stealing & Limited Base Advancement
Stealing is not allowed, and runners may advance a maximum of two bases on a hit — keeping play safe and developmentally appropriate.
MAJOR DIVISION - 3rd, 4th & 5th Grades
The MYGS Majors Division is designed for players in 3rd through 5th grade who are ready for a more competitive and fast-paced level of play. Athletes begin transitioning into live player pitching, learn advanced base running and fielding skills, and are introduced to official game rules — all while still emphasizing safety, sportsmanship, and development. This division prepares players for middle school and travel softball by building confidence, game awareness, and stronger fundamentals.
- Live Player Pitching with Inning Limits
Pitchers may pitch a maximum of two innings per game. Pitching distance is 35 feet, and pitchers must be removed after hitting four batters in a game — ensuring safety and development for all players.
- Stealing Is Allowed (With Limits)
Stealing is allowed on all bases except home, with one steal per batter and no advancing on overthrows — introducing game strategy while maintaining safety.
- Strikeouts Are In — Walks Are Out
Strikeouts are part of Majors play, but walks are not allowed. After ball four, the batter receives coach pitch, keeping the game moving and encouraging balls in play.
- Bunting Is Introduced
Bunting is allowed in Majors (with specific restrictions), helping players learn advanced offensive strategies.
- Safety Remains a Priority
Facemasks are required for all defensive players, and base blocking is prohibited unless making an active play on the ball, keeping players safe as competition increases.
Cost
For the 2026 season, the MYGS registration fee is $75 per player. This adjustment allows MYGS to keep pace with rising costs including field maintenance, equipment replacement, umpire fees, insurance, and program operations. Registration fees directly support uniforms, facility upkeep, concessions operations, and improvements that ensure a safe, organized, and high-quality experience for all players.
Each MYGS family is required to purchase five (5) raffle tickets at a value of $20 per ticket ($100 total) as a fundraising contribution. Families may share or distribute tickets to friends, family, and community supporters in exchange for voluntary donations to help offset their contribution. Tickets may not be sold for profit. Proceeds support program operations, equipment, tournaments, and facility enhancements.
Ages
The MYGS City League is open to players ages 4 through 11, providing age-appropriate divisions that focus on developing skills, confidence, and a love for the game.
When
The MYGS City League season kicks off in mid-April and continues through mid-June, offering skill development, teamwork, and exciting softball action.
Where
Practices and games are hosted across several local Mosinee fields, including Dessert Park, Zych Park, and both Mosinee Athletic Complex (MAC) fields, providing players with well-maintained and convenient locations to learn, play, and compete throughout the season.
Jerseys
Each MYGS City League player will receive a team jersey provided as part of their registration. Jerseys are high-quality t-shirts featuring professional vinyl lettering that proudly displays the league name and the team sponsor —giving every athlete a unified and spirited look on the field.
Practices
Practices for the 2026 MYGS City League will begin the week of April 13th, depending on weather and field conditions. The season starts with a focus on skill-building and team development during practice sessions, and then transitions into regularly scheduled games as the players and teams are ready for competitive play.
Games
Teams will play 2 games each week - Rookies and Minors will play every Tuesday and Thursday, and Majors will play every Monday and Wednesday.
DIBs Requirement
MYGS is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization, and our success depends on the support of our families. For the 2026 season, each registered player is required to complete six (6) DIBs volunteer hours to help support concessions, field maintenance, tournaments, special events, and game-day operations.
Ways to Fulfill DIBs:
- Concessions
- Garbage Patrol
- Spring/Fall Clean-Up
- MoTown Throwdown Tournament
- Head Coach or Assistant Coach (DIBs waived for your child/team)
- Secure a Business Sponsor (DIBs waived for your child/team)
Families who are unable to complete DIBs may choose the DIBs Buy-Out option during registration. The buy-out fee is $300 per player and allows MYGS to compensate individuals who help keep league operations running smoothly.
DIBs opportunities will be available in Crossbar after city league registration closes.
DIBs Waiver & Sponsorship Reimbursement Option
MYGS greatly values the dedication of our volunteer coaches. Families who serve as head or assistant coaches will have their DIBs requirement fully waived for the season.
Beginning in 2026, MYGS is also offering a player sponsorship incentive. Any registered player who secures a business sponsor at the $500 level will receive reimbursement of their $75 registration fee and $100 raffle ticket purchase, and their family’s DIBs requirement will also be waived — helping offset costs while directly supporting the growth of MYGS.
