MYGS History
The Mosinee Youth Girls Softball (MYGS) organization has been a cornerstone of the Mosinee community for decades (since 1994), providing girls of all ages the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete through the game of softball. What began as a small local league with a handful of dedicated volunteers has evolved into a well-established program that now serves hundreds of athletes each year.
In the early years, MYGS started with a simple mission — to give young girls in the Mosinee area a chance to experience the fun, friendship, and teamwork that softball brings. Practices were held on community fields, and games were often organized through word-of-mouth and local support. Despite limited resources, the passion of parents, coaches, and volunteers built the foundation of what MYGS is today.
As the program grew, MYGS expanded to include multiple divisions for different age groups, offering opportunities for beginners just learning the fundamentals as well as advanced players looking for competitive experiences. The creation of the Mayhem Travel Teams (8u-12u) and the Chaos Travel Team (14u)in 2024, marked an exciting chapter for the organization, allowing Mosinee athletes to compete against teams across Wisconsin while representing their hometown with pride and sportsmanship.
Throughout its history, MYGS has remained focused on more than just wins and losses. The program continues to emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork — values that extend far beyond the softball diamond. Generations of Mosinee athletes have carried those lessons into their adult lives, becoming leaders, mentors, and community contributors.
Today, MYGS thrives thanks to the ongoing support of volunteers, families, sponsors, and community partners who share a commitment to keeping youth softball strong in Mosinee. With a tradition built on passion, pride, and perseverance, MYGS continues to inspire the next generation of players — one pitch, one play, and one season at a time. 💜🥎
