🥎 Mosinee Youth Girls Softball (MYGS) – 2026 Season Update
As we prepare for another exciting season of Mosinee Youth Girls Softball, we want to take a moment to share important updates about our City League and Middle School programs, explain recent changes to registration and fundraising requirements, and highlight the continued growth of our partnership with the Mosinee Community Athletic Association (MCAA).
City League Season Overview (4K – 5th Grade)
The MYGS City League is designed to introduce young athletes to the game of softball in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Our goal is to build confidence, teach fundamentals, and foster a love for the game that carries through middle school and beyond.
The City League season will begin in early May, following several weeks of preseason practices. Games are typically played once per week, with divisions structured by grade level to ensure age-appropriate skill development. The season concludes in mid-June, allowing families to enjoy summer while still experiencing a full and meaningful softball season.
Tentative game days will mirror the 2025 season schedule. Rookies and Minors are expected to play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with game times at either 5:00 PM or 6:15 PM. Majors are expected to play on Monday and Wednesday evenings, also with start times of 5:00 PM or 6:15 PM.
Because the school year concludes on May 22, there may be flexibility to schedule later game times for any division if weather-related cancellations occur during the season.
Middle School League (Grades 6, 7 & 8)
The Middle School Softball League serves as a critical bridge between City League and high school softball. This program focuses on skill refinement, increased competition, teamwork, and preparation for the next level of play.
Middle School games will also begin in early May and run through mid-June. The Game Schedule can be found at this website: Middle School Game Schedule.
Players can expect a more competitive schedule that includes weekday games and occasional doubleheaders. This league continues MYGS’s role as the beginning softball program for Mosinee High School softball.
Why Registration Fees Increased
We understand that any increase in registration fees is a significant consideration for families. The 2026 registration adjustment was necessary to keep pace with rising operational costs, including:
- Field maintenance and preparation
- Equipment replacement and safety gear
- Umpire fees and league administration
- Insurance, software platforms, and compliance costs
Our priority remains affordability while ensuring a safe, high-quality experience for every athlete. MYGS operates as a nonprofit organization, and all registration funds are reinvested directly into our programs and facilities.
Raffle Ticket Fundraising Requirement
To help offset costs and continue improving our facilities, MYGS requires each registered player to participate in our annual raffle fundraiser.
Each family is asked to purchase raffle tickets as part of registration. Funds raised through the raffle support:
- Program operations
- Equipment and field improvements
- Long-term facility development projects
Families interested in providing additional support to MYGS are welcome to request extra raffle tickets to help further our fundraising efforts.
Our Partnership with the MCAA
MYGS is proud to partner with the Mosinee Community Athletic Association (MCAA) as we work toward shared facility goals. A major long-term objective of this partnership is to help fund a permanent concessions stand and bathroom facility at the MAC Field and softball turf complex located off Rangeline Road in Mosinee.
This project will benefit all youth sports organizations using the complex and significantly improve the experience for athletes, families, and spectators. A portion of MYGS fundraising efforts, including raffle proceeds, will be directed toward making this goal a reality.
Volunteer Coaches Needed – Every Level
MYGS is a volunteer-driven organization, and we are actively seeking head and assistant coaches at all levels for the 2026 season.
Coaching youth softball is an incredibly rewarding experience. Volunteers have the opportunity to:
- Make a lasting impact on young athletes
- Teach teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship
- Be part of a positive, community-focused program
- Help shape the future of Mosinee softball
No prior coaching experience is required—MYGS provides support, resources, and guidance to help coaches succeed. Families who volunteer as head or assistant coaches also receive DIBs hour waivers as a thank-you for their time and commitment. If you are interested in coaching, please complete the coaching application at our website.
Thank You for Supporting MYGS
Mosinee Youth Girls Softball exists because of the dedication of our families, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Your support allows us to continue growing the game, improving facilities, and providing meaningful opportunities for every girl who steps onto our fields.
We look forward to another great season of softball and can’t wait to see our players, families, and coaches back at the fields this spring.
🥎 Thank you for being part of MYGS.
