Mosinee Youth Girls Softball Announces 2026 Scholarship Recipients

The Mosinee Youth Girls Softball organization is proud to recognize three outstanding young women as the 2026 MYGS Scholarship recipients: Brooklyn Simonis, Briley Kaczor, and Emily Verhasselt.

These talented athletes have each demonstrated dedication, perseverance, leadership, and a commitment to personal growth both on and off the softball field. As they prepare to continue their academic journeys at colleges in New York, Iowa, and Wisconsin, MYGS is honored to celebrate the impact they have made within the organization and the lessons they will carry into the future.

Brooklyn Simonis reflected on how MYGS shaped her into the person she is today.

“I learned what it's like to truly have fun playing softball under the Mosinee Youth Program, and I love to see that the program that benefited me significantly as a player, is still successfully benefiting the youth today, as it did for me when I was younger. MYGS truly helped me find myself as an athlete, student, and person, which I am very grateful for.”

For Briley Kaczor, the friendships and teamwork built through softball became some of her favorite childhood memories.

“MYGS helped me find out that I love playing softball with my friends, especially at the younger ages in middle school; softball was one of my favorite parts of the week. As I progressed through the ages in MYGS, I found that I was able to develop both my softball, teamwork, and communication skills.”

Emily Verhasselt shared how the lessons learned through MYGS continue to guide her everyday life.

“A skill that I gained from MYGS is goal setting. At the beginning of each season, the coaches had us set goals. To reach these goals, we had to create ‘mini’ goals that gradually led us toward our ultimate goal. This strategy enabled us to stay organized and focused, and helped us feel accomplished about the little things. To this day, I still use this strategy to help me set goals in all aspects of my life. Though one of the most meaningful things I learned from MYGS was camaraderie and teamwork. During practices and games, my teammates and I encouraged and supported each other no matter the situation. We were a family, both on and off the field.”

The MYGS Board and community are incredibly proud of these young women and all they have accomplished. Their continued determination, hard work, and willingness to pursue the goals they set for themselves are an inspiration to the next generation of athletes coming through the program.

As they begin this exciting new chapter, MYGS wishes Brooklyn, Briley, and Emily continued success in college and beyond. No matter where life takes them, they will always be a valued part of the MYGS family. 🥎💜💛
